Captain Arturo is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced captains on this coast and has been proudly with us since 2013. His experience allows him to make knowledgeable decisions as to how to best navigate his boat to the most suitable places for your fishing experience. A true professional passionate about sportfishing and ensuring your trip is a memorable one. On his days off he enjoys spending time with family and friends.

My name is Javier Feliciano Ruiz Barrantes, known as Chano or Chanito. I was born in Villarreal de Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I lived in Playa Grande until I was 12. I'm married to Mirian Suazo, and we have one son and two grandchildren. I'm the son of Feliciano Ruiz and Judith Barrantes, and I have three siblings (one of whom is DDG). I really enjoy playing sports (especially soccer) and spending time with friends and family. I've worked in the fishing industry since I was very young, as I'm a native and was raised on the coast, in an area very suitable for this activity, as well as diving, commercial fishing, and sport fishing. For the last ten years, I've worked for Tamarindo Sport Fishing, the last two as captain of OutCast.

Honorio is a person who combines experience, dedication, and a deep passion for everything he does. For over four years, he served as the General Manager of a well-established hardware store, where he developed strong administrative and leadership skills, along with a close and personal approach to both clients and team members. His focus has always been on providing honest, reliable, and human-centered service.

However, where Honorio truly shines is at sea. Fishing is not just his job; it is his greatest love and an essential part of his life. With his experience as a first mate, he is dedicated to creating genuine connections with every guest who joins him. Beyond fishing, he enjoys sharing stories, teaching, and turning every trip into an unforgettable experience filled with excitement, learning, and respect for the ocean.

Those who have the opportunity to sail with him not only enjoy the fishing, but also his warmth, patience, and authentic desire to make every moment on the water special. Honorio has a natural gift for making people feel welcome, relaxed, and part of something truly unique, inspiring in them the same love for the sea that has guided him throughout his life.

Hey! I’m Javier Ruiz , born and raised in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. The ocean has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and eight years ago I joined the Tamarindo Sportfishing family to keep doing what I love every single day. I’m a proud father of a son and daughter with my lovely partner Camila.

You’ll always find me on the deck as the First Mate, with a smile, great energy, and ready to make every trip unforgettable. I’m a third-generation fisherman, and becoming a captain is a goal I’m proudly working toward — with hard work, passion, and true Pura Vida spirit.

Victor Campos is second mate deckhand for approximately four years, He brings enthusiasm and passion to all fishing excursions. He truly understands the needs of the guests and caters to those needs, he enjoys listening to the goals/expectations of guests and doing his best to ensure their experience is a positive/joyful one. He enjoys listening to their experiences and his priority is ensuring everyone has a good time during the trip. A fun fact about Victor is also his passion for horses, and as an experienced rider has enjoyed participating in rodeos roping cattle/bulls during the Fiestas seasons. He has the skills, patience and discipline it takes to teach a horse to dance. Victor applies this same passion and discipline to ensure your fishing experience is an amazing one and understands that the effort and process of helping clients attempt to catch fish is as equally important as the actual catch. During his time off you can catch Victor surfing the waves or working with his horse, a true professional ready to ensure you have a memorable experience.

Camila is the heart behind our daily operations. She manages reservations and keeps everything organized behind the scenes, making sure each trip is carefully coordinated from start to finish.

With strong organizational skills and a natural attention to detail, Camila ensures everything runs smoothly, allowing our crew to focus on delivering an exceptional experience on the water.

Outside of work, she is a proud mother of two, balancing family life and her professional responsibilities with dedication, warmth, and heart ♥️

Maria “Licha” Caracheo:  I’m blessed to be the newest team member of Tamarindo Sportfishing, my background is in Long term Healthcare with a passion in achieving customer satisfaction. It’s such a privilege to be the first to meet/greet our guests bright and early and see the enthusiasm and excitement of their pending fishing trip! I truly enjoy connecting with each guest, answering any questions and listening to their expectations. I proudly oversee customer service and ensure that the love and passion our owners have for Sportfishing is carried out in every aspect of the experience for our guests.

On a personal level faith and family are always first for myself and our owners support and embrace this.
